Along the road, we fall and stumble.. but let’s jump and show the world we’re strong.

Truth be told, I don’t like jump shots.. it’s undeniable hard to capture the ‘jump’. Anyway, please don’t mind my bulging tummy.. as it makes an appearance in the photos.

Anawangin Getaway Weekend!

As I was sleeping peacefully on an early morning, my sister (Ate Elda) continuously annoyed the hell out of me because she was trying to wake me up. It was a Saturday, all I want was to sleep and rest from my College Entrance Review Class. My brain had to rest for the weekend.

Little did I know that my cousin (Ate Eiffel) and her boyfriend (Kuya Randy) stayed at our apartment because they were part of the trip! I couldn’t do anything.  Even though I didn’t want to go to the beach since it’s scorching hot and I’m avoiding the sun, I love my sister that I agreed to come with her. My second sister (Ate Elaine) stayed out and participated in their office summer getaway. I had no other options.

We had to get to Monumento before 5 am so we can catch the first bus leaving.. Ate Miles, Ate Minette, Ate Owen and Ate Rochelle arrived at the bus terminal early so they bought the tickets for us and we had to pay them as soon as we got to the destination. My sister had to pay for my expenses since I was just a tag-along company. Did I mention that I am the youngest in the group? Believe it or not, I am.

Before going to the beach, we had a stop over at the supermarket to buy everything that we needed for our one-night stay.. I felt like I’m a girl scout attending the jamboree which I had never done in my life.

Here’s an obligatory picture in front of their city hall. Kuya Randy took this picture, he was the only guy in the group.

Ate Elda wished that Ate Elaine could come with us.. she believes that THE MORE, THE MERRIER. She joked that Dora could take Ate Elaine’s role for the weekend, hence the picture.*L-R: Ate Eiffel, Ate Elda, me*

Flaunting off various kind of shades, we set off for the boat ride which took us 45 minutes to get to the first island. We were asked to wear those bright orange life vests for safety precautions.

As we got there, I was amazed to see these huge rocks in the shore.. along with countless broken slippers. I was afraid that mine would be one of those if I don’t walk carefully. I definitely had a hard time walking! I wondered where we were headed…

Then, my sister pointed out this lighthouse! It was located at the very top of the island… that meant walking, walking and walking non-stop. We were determined to find out what could we see inside that!

On the bright side, I was glad that my sister brought a bottle of Gatorade with her that I was holding in this picture! It sure quenched my thirst. On the contrary, I made the right decision to wear shorts because my legs can move easily and it’s very comfortable.

This is it! We made it! We asked the caretaker when was the lighthouse erected/built at the place… he just replied, “Matagal na po, mga 1900’s po ata.” Imagine how did they bring all the materials in the island? How could they possibly think of constructing this beautiful place? And look how old it is!

All the walking drained my energy! I had to sit down while they took pictures of the place… I looked pissed off!

It was time to get there and be on top!

The non-stop walking didn’t stop! When we entered the inside of the lighthouse, we had to rest for awhile because there was a long spiral staircase that seemed to be endless.. then, we climbed another 3 different stairs just to get to the top of it.

Alas!! I can proudly say that I made it to the very top! The scenery was breathtaking! The feel when you got there was refreshing!

After this, we had another boat ride so we can get to the Anawangin beach..

The entrance fee was P100.00 if you stay overnight and P50.00 if not.

The first thing we had to do was to set up the tent. Our stuff needed a place where it was safe.. for precaution. We didn’t want to lose something important.

Cooking our food using coals took our time! We were all hungry and exhausted. We ate pusit, tilapia and porkchop. Yummy!

Of course, we didn’t have spoon and forks. We used our hands to eat.

Afterwards, we rested for awhile and hit the beach! The sand looked like this. We spent the rest of the day swimming.

The next day, our last day… we had to take a lot of commemorative pictures. Take a look at this! Our group jumpshot was epic fail because my sister didn’t make it.  *L-R: Kuya Randy, Ate Eiffel, Ate Elda, Ate Miles, Ate Owen, Ate Rochelle, me.*

There are a lot of pictures in store.. but that would only make this post longer. Furthermore, we had fun teasing Ate Eiffel and Kuya Randy.. Take a look at their pre-nuptial photoshoot here. I also had memorable photos during this trip, my first underwater picture and candid shot by my sister.
