Waiting for the Finale.

Having finished Hush, Hush 2 years ago, I finally gave in and read the next sequels, Crescendo and Silence which were all written by Becca Fitzpatrick. If I were to give a rating to this teen romantic and paranormal novels about fallen angels, Hush, Hush would be okay.. Crescendo is good and Silence is better!

In Hush, Hush, it mostly revolves on how Nora and Patch develop their feelings for each other. The characters are introduced, how they look and how do they act in situations. As the story progresses, it was revealed that Patch needs to kill Nora as a sacrifice in order to obtain a human body. In the end, Patch became Nora’s guardian angel and her boyfriend. In the author’s descriptions, Patch is such a hot guy while Nora seems like the next-door sweet yet smart girl.

In Crescendo, the story unveils more of the events in the past. What happened to Nora’s father? Who killed him? What was the real reason behind his murder? There’s so much inquiries and it all comes down to the truth. Nora will go through a lot of burden especially Patch seems to disappear when she confesses her true feelings. Scott Parnell, Nora’s childhood friend comes back after their long stay at Portland. Nora wants to find out Scott’s dirty little secret but what is at stake with her relationship with Patch? At the last page, it keeps you thrilled and excited to know what will happen next.

A little theory formed in my mind while reading the third sequel, Silence. Nora couldn’t remember anything from the past five months of her life after waking up alone in a cementery. Her memories were taken away as well as the fact that she has a boyfriend. She couldn’t say anything without having the trouble of thinking hard what had really happened, hence the title. I like this sequel because a lot of actions are going on. Nora’s life will change as she accidentally kills her real dad when he tried to burn Patch’s feather to send him to hell. Patch is just as sweet and as protective as ever!

I couldn’t wait to read the last sequel to this which is entitled Finale! I’m guessing it would be about the upcoming war between the Nephilim and fallen angels. Nora has to choose who will be her enemy, the Nephilim or the archangels? The mystery is about to end this year! ;)

PS: As much as I miss reading, I also miss blogging about the books I already finished. This Summer 2012, I have been catching up with the books I want to read so I will be doing ‘book reviews’ (say what?!) in my future posts.

May the Odds Be Ever in Your Favor

Together with Kamille, Margeory and Dyanara, I watched Hunger Games at SM Marilao 2 days after its premiere showing. Not only they are my close friends, they’re also my review mates whenever we have our tests and my movie buddies. Every time we plan to go out together, I have made other commitments so this was my first time to actually come with them. I must say, that day was undeniably special. I planned on posting this before our graduation but I couldn’t force myself.. I was preoccupied. Right now, I just miss them!

Moving on with the movie itself.. Jennifer Lawrence did a very good job in playing the role of Katniss Everdeen. She’s  just perfect - her hair, voice, height, eyes, acting skills. We couldn’t help ourselves but compliment how gorgeous she is. This might be a good break for her career! Personally speaking, if I were to base my answer with the movie, I’m team Gale! Liam Hemsworth and Jennifer Lawrence have a chemistry.. I didn’t see a ‘spark’ going on between Katniss and Peeta. Though in the book, I really like Peeta! Did I mention that I read the book because everybody is talking about how good it is?

When Katniss was inside the arena with Peeta and Gale’s facial expression was hurt.. I can almost hear everyone’s sympathy. “Awwwww!” was their reaction. Margeory and I even said, “Go for Peeta and we’ll have Gale for ourselves!” On a totally random note, is it hard to learn archery?

PS: Must read Catching Fire soon!

The Day He Remembers Me.

If you know me too well, I don’t buy books for myself.. but I like to read a lot. My style is borrowing from someone who is kind enough to lend me something. Before my birthday, someone had been asking what kind of book I read. I asked him what it was for.. he said he wanted to browse for books to read. Imagine my surprise when Audie together with Pappus handed over a small paper bag last September 5 containing this book. It was unexpected, I never thought that they would exert an effort for my birthday. Anyway, it was covered perfectly, I wonder, who wrapped up the book? It was impressive because I don’t know how to wrap/cover my books.

And hey, the gift comes with personal letters as well! I just have to take a snapshot of it, can you read it? I think Audie had something to say.. but I was in a hurry so I thanked them wholeheartedly and he just replied with a smile.
